The stretch of Agoura Road between Kanan and Cornell used to empty out after six. Storefronts closed, the farmers market packed up by early afternoon, and anyone looking for a Thursday night out drifted toward Westlake or Calabasas. That has changed. Between a new weekly evening market, the free Sunday concert series at Chumash Park, and a fully booked summer at The Canyon, Agoura Hills has quietly built a seven-night rhythm inside a one-mile corridor. This is a guide to using it.
The thesis is simple: you no longer need to leave the 91301 to fill a summer week. Almost everything worth doing this July and August sits within walking distance of Whizin Market Square, and the projects breaking ground behind it suggest the density is only going to increase.
Thursday Belongs To Ladyface Marketplace
The newest addition is also the easiest to miss if you haven't driven past Cornell after work. Starting Thursday, May 29, Agoura Hills became home to a brand-new weekly tradition: Ladyface Marketplace, an evening farmers market that runs every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 5050 Cornell Road, next to Whizin Market Square.
This is not the Saturday morning setup you may remember from the old Whizin lot. It runs into golden hour, and the vendor mix leans dinner rather than groceries. Each week brings a mix of vendors offering fresh produce, delicious food, flowers, handmade art, candles, soaps, knife sharpening services, and much more. Parking fills up fast on Agoura Road, so the city has been steering people toward its own transit workaround. Parking is available along Agoura Road and at Whizin Market Square, and the City encourages residents to carpool or take advantage of AH-GO, Agoura Hills' subsidized Lyft program offering convenient, low-cost rides within city limits.
If you have never used AH-GO, Thursday is the night to try it. The market sits on the exact strip the program was designed to serve, and you avoid the frustration of circling for a spot at 6:15.
Sunday Nights Belong To Chumash Park
The second anchor of the week is older and more familiar, but the 2026 lineup deserves a closer look than most residents give it. The City of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and the DIY Home Center present the 2026 Summer Concerts in the Park. Concerts are held at 6 p.m. on Sundays and are free of charge, with a suggested $2 donation. Food trucks will be on hand. All concerts are held at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive.
Two shows remain on the calendar:
- Sunday, August 2 — Fortunate Son, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute
- Sunday, August 16 — Turn the Page, a Bob Seger tribute
Bring low chairs, not tall ones, if you want to stay friendly with the family behind you. Food trucks handle dinner if you didn't stop at the marketplace on Thursday.
There is also a quieter companion event most Agoura residents overlook. The 2026 summer performance of the Community Concert and Jazz Band, conducted by Robert Hackett, is at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 19 at the Agoura High School Performing Arts Center at 28545 Driver Ave. Indoors, seated, and a very different tempo than the Chumash lawn.
Friday And Saturday Belong To The Canyon
Two blocks away from the marketplace, The Canyon Agoura Hills has stacked its summer schedule with acts that would ordinarily push people over the grade into Hollywood. The venue's own July and August calendar reads like a tour of adjacent genres you can walk between on foot:

- Saturday, July 18 — Poncho Sanchez, with opening set by YOCOYA
- Friday, July 24 — Tierra, with opening set by Nojac
- Friday, July 31 — Henry Kapono, with opening set by Johnny Keech

- Friday, August 7 — Bruno Mars Tribute by Locked Out Of Heaven

Most shows start at 6 p.m., which lines up neatly with an early dinner across the parking lot at Whizin.
What To Eat Before Or After
This is where the corridor thesis holds up best. Every one of the evenings above is within a five-minute walk of the same cluster of restaurants, and the mix has gotten more interesting in the past year.
For breakfast-for-dinner or a lighter start before a concert, Sunrose in Whizin Market Square offers a modern twist on classic California flavors, serves brunch all day plus a larger menu after 10 a.m., with mimosas, avocado toast, and Roman-style flatbreads on offer.
If you want a sit-down before The Canyon, Plata's flavorful Mexican cuisine and Basta's hearty Italian dishes both draw praise for authenticity and generous portions, and both are inside Whizin. Sage Plant Based Bistro & Brewery sits directly across Cornell at 5046 Cornell Road, which puts it about ninety seconds from the Ladyface Marketplace tents.
For a coffee-driven pre-market run on Thursday, Hatch Café and Market at 30651 Thousand Oaks Blvd. and Emil's Bake House at 5005 Kanan are both reliable stops. The Chamber of Commerce keeps a full current dining directory that is worth bookmarking if you want the phone numbers in one place.
What's Changing On The Same Block
The reason this corridor works as a thesis rather than a coincidence is that the city has been quietly rebuilding it. Three projects on or adjacent to this stretch of Agoura Road are due to change how the area functions within the next year.
The first is behind Whizin, along the flood-control channel most residents have driven past without noticing. The city's first public park south of the 101 Freeway will cost $17.6 million, and construction involves capping the open flood-control conduit to create more than one acre of new green space from Cornell Road to the Whizin Market driveway, planted with native, drought-tolerant landscaping. The $17.6-million Ladyface Greenway is expected to be completed in spring 2026. When it opens, the walk from the Chumash Park concert to a Thursday market to a Canyon show all becomes one continuous pedestrian experience rather than three separate parking trips.
The second is a returning tenant on a corner that has sat quiet since Ladyface Alehouse closed. Malibu Brewing Company has indicated it anticipates opening in Spring 2026 at 29281 Agoura Road at Kanan, in the former Tavern Tomoko and Ladyface Alehouse location. That address is a five-minute walk from the marketplace and a two-minute drive from The Canyon.
The third is farther east but affects everyone who lives along the corridor. Caltrans announced that a major addition has started on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, the world's largest of its kind, which will connect open space on both sides of US 101 in Agoura Hills. Approximately 5,000 native plants will be installed atop the bridge, scheduled for completion in fall 2026. The collection includes coastal sage scrub species such as California aster, purple sage, hoaryleaf ceanothus, narrowleaf milkweed, bush sunflowers and scarlet bugler, and the new habitat will support the movement of native species like mountain lions, bobcats, deer, foxes and pollinators while reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and the genetic isolation caused by freeways.
That last project is worth mentioning here because it changes what a summer evening in Agoura Hills means over a longer horizon. The town is not just adding events. It is adding the quieter infrastructure that makes those events feel like they belong to a specific place rather than a generic suburb.
Using The Week
If you want a template for August, it looks something like this. Thursday at Ladyface Marketplace with a walk over to Sage or Plata for dinner. Friday at The Canyon for whichever act suits your taste, with a pre-show flatbread at Sunrose. Sunday at Chumash Park for the tribute band and a food truck. Saturday is a floater, saved for a longer dinner at Basta or a drive up to the Chumash Trail while the light holds.
The point is not that any single one of these is remarkable in isolation. Sunrose is a good brunch spot. Chumash Park has hosted free concerts for years. The Canyon has always booked well. What is new is that they all sit inside the same walkable few blocks, on the same nights, with a shared parking lot and a subsidized Lyft ride if you need it. That is the version of Agoura Hills worth paying attention to this summer.
